A 37-year-old woman had splitting of her heels for the past 3 months with severe pain and occasional bleeding. She was otherwise in good health and had tried topical over-the-counter emollients for a month followed by topical miconazole nitrate 2% cream twice daily for the previous 2 weeks without any improvement.
