Enclosed vaginal morcellation of a large uterus
Ceana Nezhat, MD, and Erica Dun, MD, show how they perform enclosed vaginal morcellation

James D. Kondrup, MD, demonstrates his surgical team's approach to morcellation, with use of a morcellation bag after laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy. With meticulous technique, Dr. Kondrup says the surgeon may be able to prevent the spread of tissue. Dr. Kondrup's latest version of the bag uses the draw string to close the bag prior to removal.
Dr. Kondrup is Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Upstate Medical Center Syracuse, Binghamton, New York, and is in private practice at Lourdes Hospital, Broome OB/GYN, Binghamton.
Dr. Kondrup reports that he is a trainer, speaker, and consultant to Ethicon EndoSurgery and Ethicon Surgical Care; a member of the speakers' bureau for Myriad Genetics; and a consultant to PALL Medical.
