Low-dose short term oral corticosteroids can be an effective DMARD when used in combination with methotrexate in patients with very early rheumatoid arthritis, according to Dr. Daniel E. Furst, who is the Carl M. Pearson Professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at the University of California, Los Angeles. At the annual Perspectives in Rheumatic Diseases conference, Dr. Furst also discussed treatment advances in RA. The meeting was held by Global Academy for Medical Education.
